About Me

I was born and raised in Daytona Beach, FL. I went to Florida State University and in May of 2002, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with a concentration in Cultural Anthropology. I moved to Austin, TX and after dating for seven years, finally married my high school sweetheart in May 2003. I worked in the service sector and then in freelance graphic design, but soon realized I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and in the world.

I started substitute teaching and quickly decided that I wanted to become a teacher. I went through an alternative certification program and started my teaching career as a 7th grade Resource Reading and Inclusion Teacher in August 2005.

Passionate about learning, I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. I believe that obtaining greater knowledge as a teacher is the best way I can prepare myself to help young people gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills required to lead fulfilling lives as contributing members of our community.

Dear Lisa,
The children are very lucky to have you as their teacher. I am impressed with the way you put so much thought and caring into what you do with the students. You realize that teaching is so much more than preparing a lesson and presenting it, but requires interaction and a real connection with the students and their parents.
